Welcome. Välkomna. Bienvenue. Tervetuloa. Aloha. Salve. Fàilte.
After gaining a degree in International Relations from Plymouth University, I wanted to join the Royal Navy, before becoming a defence correspondent. I swiftly then realised that would probably never happen... Kate Adie I am not!
I started this blog as something to do around work as I love writing, and now I try to spread my love of adventure and the outdoors with everyone I meet! This year I'm fortunate to have been chosen as an Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion. I am also a Team Rubicon UK Greyshirt & Duke of Edinburgh's Award Volunteer.
There is a nautical theme running throughout my blog, as I adore the sea and all things relating to it. I sail, I teach Sea Cadets and have tried almost every water-sport imaginable. I have blogged about all things sailing over at Southampton Focus previously.
I drink too much tea, swore visibly on Mastermind and am a bit of a naval history geek too.
In 2016, I reached the summit of Kilimanjaro. I'm a sucker for a mountain, after a childhood spent playing with skipping ropes on the stairs, climbing the 'Matterhorn'! If I'm not at work I'm either up a hill, by the sea, in the gym or learning to climb and I'm aiming to summit Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn in 2018.
